The subconscious mind is created during our childhood. We are born and need to create a framework of what family, relationships, life is, and we learn it directly by what we see and absorb in our environments and family. This is where we learn if we are valued, lovable, what is normal or familiar in relationships by the relationship we have with our caretakers. Trauma that occurs during childhood has a deep and lasting effect on us, and can leave certain beliefs and defense mechanisms in us that may have helped us at that age, but now limit us as adults. Hypnosis works directly with the subconscious mind and the nervous system both of which remember and hold on to certain ways of functioning that we needed to survive as children. Hypnosis is a somatic modality, meaning working with the body, and that is why it is effective in treating trauma that is stored within the body and nervous system. This can be deep work and it requires a willingness and courage to heal and I respect each and every client that I work with, working at their pace and meeting them where they are.
